Medical coding is the process of turning a patient's medical processes, such as their diagnosis, treatment, and prescription, into internationally recognised codes. They are afterwards charged by insurance firms for insurance claim and payment purposes. They employ a particular set of codes for coding, such as ICD (International Classification of Codes), HCPCS (Healthcare Common Procedural Coding System), and CPT (Current Procedural Terminology).
ICD Codes or International Classifications of Diseases or are set of diagnostic codes by World Health Organization (WHO).ICD codes contains diseases, symptoms, abnormal findings, and other elements of a patient's diagnosis in a way that is universally accepted by those in the medical and insurance fields.
